Ideally, it’s best to wear something that is comfortable and makes you feel your best. Clothing inspires confidence, and confidence translates into stunning photos that capture the best representation of you. There are, however, a few things to note.
Stay away from clothing with large logos. Loud colors, while they stand out, can create an unwanted color cast on yourself or other members of the group.
Watch out for outfits that might clash. Rather than match perfectly, think of having everyone wear something that goes together in a natural yet not overly obvious way.
Solid neutrals are a good choice. I’ve typically found that solid neutral colors work best for parents, while kids can wear prints, but avoid graphic tees - they tend to stand out too much, taking the focus off the kids and the timelessness of the photo. If you can, avoid prints with tight repeating patterns. They have a tendency to create an unwanted moire in the photograph that is hard if not impossible to remove in photoshop.
Be authentic. Most importantly, wear something that authentically reflects who you are while at the same time inspiring confidence.
